Why is it that on some prescription pills..?

You have to have a doctor's authorization FIRST before getting refills? Even if you've been taking the meds more than a few months?
Answer:
They are most likely class A drugs. You need authorisation incase your abusing or selling them.
Because a doctor i.e. a medical practitioner is an approved professional in taking all the responsibility of the course of medication of an individual as his patient.
they are considered narcotics. like those for add/adhd and ocd, or some pain medications
Your doctor obviously wants to see you again before prescribing more. Just a check and balance. I have been taking the same prescription for almost 20 years not and every year I need to see my doctor to get another round of refills. No big deal.
because you might have had been getting those pills for a while but the doctor might have said at your last appointment you didn't need those pills anymore but your trying to get another prescription for illegal purposes.
Some prescription drugs warrant regular monitoring by your doctor, like Accutane. Or if you are taking an anti-depressant, your doctor may want to see you before you get a refill just to see how you are doing. Lastly, many prescription drugs are controlled substances and regulated by the DEA, therefore your doctor may not be able to give you refills or is limited on the number of refills they can provide.
