Why is it so - a 'bloody' question:D?

Why when it's blood taken for example, for an extra blood test, you have never got it taken from your thumb? only from one of the two-three last fingers? i was just wondering..:)
Answer:
Because the skin is thicker on your thumb so collection would be more difficult. Also, you use your thumb more often, being the opposable digit, so having that sore for a while might inconvenience you more.
I have collected from thumbs, and all the fingers and toes, if need be, depending on the circumstances, and have always found the middle and ring fingers to bleed the best. The pointer finger, nearest thumb also has slightly thicker skin, and I don't use it if I can avoid it.
You're bloody right... but I don't have the answer... I'll come back later for it... if any.
You use your thumb more than the last three fingers and removing blood from those fingers saves you a lot of pain.
Well i think there is increased blood supply to middle fingers with dense anastomoses..apart from it skin over distal most part of thumb and index fingers are thick..hence middle fingers widely used for blood tests.
