Why does Topamax work so well for not binging sometimes...?

...but other times I am immune to it? Could it be that this happens anytime I eat something with sugar in it? Including fruits?I have hypoglycemia, by the way. So I guess I am more succeptible to hunger. Now what can undo this, I don't know, except calling it a night and trying again the next day (and popping some laxies maybe...lol).
Answer:
I am currently taking Topamax (400mg) and I found that when I went off of it and went back on, everything DID taste weird...in fact, I didn't want to eat very much...LOL. And that led to weight loss. But to answer your question, I think that maybe the efficacy of Topamax depends on the person's appetite, their dosage, and of course how long they've been on it...everyone builds a tolerance to drugs and their side effects (for instance, I don't get the tingly fingers I did when I first started Topamax). My neurologist told me that the side effect of weight loss doesn't occur for everyone, so I'm assuming based on what kind of eater you are (maybe you're a stress eater, bored eater, emotional eater, etc) that would factor in too.Of course, everyone is different...and I'm no neurologist. All I know is what I experienced on the drug personally. Hope it helps.
The only thing that Topomax or however you spell it, did for me was to make soda and such taste like crap.If you're binging, or doing laxatives, maybe you might want to talk to someone about your eating disorder. Meds help, but they can't fix things alone.
