Why is it that doctors call what they do "practice"?

Answer:
because even tho they already are doctors, it doesn't mean they know everything. everyday experience from treating patients is also a learning stage for them thats why they call it practice.
i dunno but lawyers do too. must be a professional school thing. . .
Well every doctor has to practice to get better at their job! Especially new doctors!
Practice makes perfect...bank account!
The word is derived from the Greek and Latin "praxis" which means a practical application or exercise of a branch of learning.
cause they haven't got it right yet.
really creative there. you're not the first person to ask this...
"Medicine" is the practice of an art, based on an imperfect science.
