why is it called plastic surgery when no plastic is used?

Answer:
The word "plastic" comes from the Greek word plastikos, meaning "to mold or shape."Many of the first plastic surgeries were developed to close a difficult wound or replace tissue lost due to injury or cancer. These procedures often involved the formation of a skin flap to reshape or mold the defect so as to approximate the original shape
because when you think of something fake, you usually think plastic, like a Barbie.or because the people getting plastic surgery are shallow %26 "plastic", because a real breast is soft and supple and a fake breast is hard and immobile like plasitc. I can go on and on...LOL.. but seriously here is the definition...The word "plastic" derives from the Greek plastikos meaning to mold or to shape; its use here is not connected with the synthetic polymer material known as plastic.Plastic surgery is a specialty that uses surgical techniques to improve the appearance and function of patients' bodies.[1] Some of these operations are called "cosmetic", and others are called "reconstructive".
Sometimes there IS plasic involved.
plastic means to model or to shape.
bcoz plastic also means artificial...all u get from a plastic surgery is not natural...
